Camping!

The past two years we have gone camping with Nicki over memorial day weekend. This year..it rained. We knew it would be raining when we left but at least we were prepared.

The night before we left Jarren was throwing up, I thought I had given him a bad bottle but apparently it was the flu, and we left him with Jake's family not knowing that. Then when we left to go camping I started to feel like I was going to throw up. I never did, but I came very close. Then on Sunday Jake got it and threw up in the morning. He barely made it outside the tent, we were VERY happy he did.
We got up to camp saturday night and set up camp, it didn't really rain that night. Sunday night it POURED! It rained so much it that it soaked our rain cover over our tent and started dripping on my face. I didn't get much sleep to say the least. The next night we got a cabin up there. MUCH BETTER SLEEP.

Anyway, that was the nights. During the day we were able to go 4-wheeling and get really muddy, play games, eat food, play sports and hang out. It was really fun, the rain just made it an even better adventure. It was fun, we will probably go again next year..hopefully :)

First attempt

Here is the first attempt with Photoshop. I decided to try it out and see what happens.

A day at the park

So I've decided I want to try my photography again. I did photography for about 4-5 years, and then it stopped after I got married. I just did some quick shots at the park today. Jarren had fun with the dandelions.

Kirk gave me photoshop, and I've been trying to figure out how to work it. I need to mess around with it. I've always done film photography not digital, so we will see how it goes. Either way, we had a fun picnic at the park and Jarren loved playing on everything.

The look

Yes Kirk, another baby update.

Jarren has several looks now that he likes to do. Here are two of them:
The "I'm in trouble" look. He does this when he knows he's doing something wrong. He hides his face in the high chair and the car seat. If there is anywhere else he can hide his face he tries.

This one is the "I'm bored get me out of here" look.

9 month stats

Jarren had his 9 month appointment on Tuesday and here are his results:

Height: 29 in.
Percentile: 72%
Weight: 21.14 lbs
Percentile: 69%
Head: 47 1/2 cm
Percentile: 95%

He also had his Polio shot and had his finger poked to check his iron levels..he didn't cry once! What a tough little guy I have. He really liked the bandaids.

He now likes to eat banana chunks and pear chunks...although last night he choked on a pear chunk, that was scary. He also loves peas...though he doesn't chew them he swallows them whole...so it's just lovely in his diaper. He likes raisins too and his all time favorites and clubs snack sticks (crackers) and pickles. He still eats cheerios but they are getting too bland for him I think.

Crispy Mustard Chicken

So I have found some low carb meals. This is one of them that we did last night...it was really good. Rob even liked it and he hates mustard.

Crispy Mustard Chicken
Calories 166.3
Total Carbs 1g

8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 tsp table salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp Mustard, yellow, prepared
1 egg
6 Tbsp cheese, Parmesan, dried, grated
1/4 cup bread crumbs, white, soft
1 cooking spray, original

Directions
1. Begin by sprinkling each chicken breast piece with salt and pepper. Then, beat together the mustard and egg with a whisk until well blended. In a seperate bowl combine the cheese and bread crumbs and stir well.

2. Dip the chicken in the egg mixture, then dredge it into the breadcrumb mixture. Let each piece stand at room temp for about 10 minutes on wax paper to set coating.

3. Preheat your oven to 400 deg. F and then transfer the chicken to the rack of a roasting pan coated with cooking spray. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the chicken is done and the coating is lightly browned. Transfer the chicken to a serving platter and enjoy!

Prom

No...not prom for me (Kirk). My sister in law's prom. She had prom this last weekend and asked me to help her with her hair again. (I did it last year too) Here is what it looked like. I had fun and she was pleased so it was a win win situation.

A day behind

I'm a day behind. I keep thinking it's Wednesday and yesterday I kept thinking it was Tuesday...The weekends almost here and I don't even feel like it is! What is wrong with me.

On another note...It's May 1st. Happy May to all of you that DON'T live in Utah. When I went to bed this morning at 1am it was snowing! Not even little flakes that don't stick. Full on HUGE snowflake that I almost thought was blossom leaves, but they weren't I double checked. And when it all stopped, my lovely green grass outside had a nice (well not so NICE) white layer on it. It's all melted now, but what a GREAT way to start MAY! At the rate we are going it will still be snowing in July.
